Well the time is finally here!  I have been able to pop another chapter in moving pictures.  Ill post the link to the super quality 720p file soon enough but for now just enjoy the vimeo!

Studio304 Still Motion - 5D mark 2 from Dj Frost on Vimeo.

Studio304 and it’s crew are featured in this short picture.  If your in the Vancouver area contact us at http://www.studio304.ca for more information on rates and availability.

Big thanks to Adam and Kev Photography for the raw conversions.

THE IDEA:

We had a regular shmegular studio meeting and decided to take a portrait of all the studio members.  Well, this turned into more than a portrait as you can see.

The camera was actually triggered by an iPhone passed around the group.  By tapping the shutter over wi-fi.

In the first scenes we are all standing around with the light setup from that days portrait shoot, then in the second scene, we each setup our own light.  Adam Schelle [softbox camera left], Kevin Holloway [umbrella] Adam Blasberg [beauty dish center pillar] Justin Frost [camera right].

A true colab, everyone here has a photographic background and what a great time we had at this meeting!

Canon 5d Mark II - Premier Pro CS4 1080p Workflow

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

Well, I finally got my hands on one of these Canon 5D mark 2’s.  I’m using the camera strictly for video and it is working beautifully.  This clip shows what sort of “photographer inspired” imagery can be done with this thing.  There are many drawbacks to using this camera for video, but there are also amazing features like: interchangeable lenses, the full frame sensor, and extreme low light sensitivity!

Warning: Music is a bit of a downer.  Skip to the motorcycle video if you want something a little more “upbeat”.

Wireless sound for video with airport express

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Studio304 needed a way to send audio to the main speakers… this is easily accomplished in itunes with just audio.  Have you ever tried this with any type of movie, including DVDs though?

The solution is Airfoil.

Airfoil and VLC make a prefect wireless audio sync

Airfoil allows you to send the audio of ANY program [including system audio] via your airport express remote speakers.

This is useful for countless projection environments, there are so many applications where having a wireless sound signal makes setup more flexible and enjoyable.  The software is well priced.

Airfoil seems to be the holy grail of this process, however it has one issue worth mentioning….  There is an audio lag created from using the Airfoil “hyjack” process.  This means that programs [such as safari] without the “Audio Delay” function cannot sync [align the audio and video perfectly].

VLC allows you to change the “Audio Delay” allowing you to sync pretty much anything!

The latency is -1950 ms on my macbook pro.  To do this in VLC:

- press “f” until the display reads Audio Delay = -1950
