I work in the apparel industry and have seen quite a few attempts at allowing users to create their own garment designs… This is the best example of any that I have seen recently, check it out here.

This really has nothing to do with open source, but I think its a great example of effective interface design. I love seeing great use of flash and actionscript 3.
